A Short Note on EOS Initial Coin Offering
Block.one's EOS ICO has been nothing short of mind blowing! Not only because it shattered all records in raising around 645,000 ETH (about $185 million), in only the 5 days comprising stage 1 of the ICO, but mostly in the way the ICO has been designed and is being staged.
The ICO will continue for a full year, raising funds against a balance 700,000,000 EOS tokens (2,000,000 a day for 350 days). At the same time, EOS has already started trading on exchanges as of a few hours ago. Such a market dynamic is a very curious one by any standard. It'll be extremely fun to watch how it unfolds.
It would be far more interesting though, if Block.one were really able to deliver on their promises and high expectations from EOS, from "decentralizing everything" to free millions of transactions per second to name just two, because that would essentially: (1) change our world as we know it, disrupt almost every industry, bring about web 3.0, and (2) make today's valuation a fraction of what it would be (hint: market cap for all cryptocurrencies today is around a $100 billion. Gold is at about $8 trillion. USD is about $10.5 trillion -using M2 money supply definition.) So you do the math!
