BITNATION: A United, Borderless Nation

Government is created by and gets its power from the people. Thus created for the benefit of the people. With its power, Government is able to organize, command and control the territory.

Although government on the whole is good but in a lot of situations, the government is far from effective. There is a lack of effort from government to follow the compliance and accountability procedures which lead to corruption and the collapse of the system. Government failed to keep management of politics and economies transparent.

A famous example is Greece, the Greek crisis started in late 2009, triggered by the turmoil of the Great Recession, structural weaknesses in the Greek economy, and revelations that previous data on government debt levels and deficits had been undercounted by the Greek government. This led to a crisis of confidence, indicated by a widening of bond yield spreads and rising cost of risk insurance on credit default swaps compared to the other Eurozone countries, particularly Germany.

Besides of that there are indications of barriers to citizenship in most developed countries. Based on 2014 polling by Naleo.org, there are 3,8 million Latino Legal Permanent Residents that are eligible to become naturalized American citizens, yet only a few are accepted and the majority still struggle for citizenship. There are two main barriers that are preventing many from becoming new American citizens:

1. Financial barriers ($680 per application)
2. Language barriers (lack of education)

Another big problems with our society is gender equality, job opportunity, equality before law, human rights, war genocide and many more.

So if it's difficult to become a citizen then what's the point of becoming one? If government cannot improve people's lives then what's the point of government?

Bitnation, is a nation without border; a nation without limit in which all persons are free to become fully active citizens.

Bitnation is a blockhain-powered governance. Its goal is to provide better alternatives to governance services currently provided by nation states. Bitnation provides the same services traditional governments provides as well as enables people to create their own services. Services implemented so far include blockchain marriage, dispute resolution, insurance, security identity, birth certificate, land registry, notary, as well as services for refugees, including Bitnation Visa cards, identities and coordination of mutual help.

As one of the early adopters of Ethereum blockchain, Bitnation has applied the Ethereum Smart Contract for its core government services since 2014. On 2015, Bitnation registered first refugees on the blockchain by registering undocumented individuals on the blockchain. These refugees will receive an ID recorded on the blockchain and with this ID, people would be able to receive social assistance and financial services. This process happened without intervention or help from the government or organizations.

This is what we really need if we're going to build an equal yet borderless system, centered in the heart of a blockchain technology and make it a new hub where people feel safe and welcome. The platform will include a range of local services to support the community such as social space access and suitable space for activities for people of all ages. Bitnation will replace the current governance model.

Anyone can sign up online to become a citizen or sign up to open an embassy and become an ambassador. This embassy is a place where an ambassador is willing to provide helpful services like place for refugees or blockchain-weddings in exchange for PAT (Bitnation currency). Because it is different from "real embassies", international protection couldn't be guaranteed but it's helpful in many ways.
