I need help

in #blender6 years ago

how the hell do you get a square extruded without losing its cross section? I mean specially in the 45 degree angle extruden.

How did someone have a tip on how to model a board?

As an example, I wanted to extrude in the 45 degree angle but so far it was only as suns the cross section changes.

You see the problem? How can you extrude without leaving the cross section in different angles?

Not sure if there is an easier Blender workaround, but for a 45 degree rotation, to line up the scaling around corners you can scale up by 1.4142 (or √2). This is because you're trying to scale that up to be the hypotenuse of a unit right triangle.

I would instead recommend modelling it as a flat series of planes and then extruding the whole thing up along the z axis.

Hope this helps. :)

This sounds complicated but is probably a good solution. I just had to go there's an easier way. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 But thanks for your help. 👌😊

Most welcome. If there is an easier way I'd love to know as well. :)
