Black indian salt – What is it and what are the Benefits?

in #blackindiansalt7 years ago

Though the name has black in it, Black Indian salt is not really black in color. It’s more like reddish-gray because of the presence of iron and trace minerals. The sulfurous flavor is a unique characteristic of Black Indian salt that distinguishes it from table salt or sea salt.

Benefits of Black Indian salt

Unlike any other normal salt, Black Indian salt doesn’t increase the content of sodium in blood and therefore is recommended for patients who are suffering from high blood pressure.

There are other benefits of Black Indian salt as well, such as:

  • Black Indian salt is also used for treatment of hysteria.
  • Many use it, along with other plant and mineral ingredients to make toothpaste.

How to use Black Indian salt?

  • Black Indian salt is often added to chutneys, chaats, raitas and various other snacks in many Asian countries.
  • To spice up their dishes, many vegans prefer to sprinkle Black Indian salt. It sort of mimics the taste of eggs.
