Black and white photography is light + exposure. The exposition should be properly aligned so that the details in the picture are preserved and convey the whole idea of the photographer. Of the overexposed areas, it is not necessary to stretch the parts. This will not lead to anything good. Most likely, only an unpleasant gray color will appear.
