BJJ White Belt Curriculum - Week 3, Class 2

Once again, I invite you inside my home club as we explore the standard white belt curriculum as laid out by our lineage. Many other schools approach things differently which is great and there is no harm in filling in the details and watching the grass grow on the other side of the fence. You can always check back at my blog for the other issues if you want to review or are joining us half way through.

Last week, I posted class 3 (which was a good summary with a little focus on drilling to build up some muscle memory) and class 1 of week 3 so that we include a little new technique and details in each blog post. https://steemit.com/bjj/@zekepickleman/bjj-white-belt-curriculum-week-2-day-3

Today, we continue with week 3 and get into some great details around the Closed Guard Cross-Choke, Scissor Sweep, and combinations.

Personal Take-aways

  1. Great xchoke details - DEEEEEP grip, curl wrists, change angle a bit, elbows back to your hips and not outwards.
  2. Ryan makes it so easy looking with the switch to the arm triangle and arm bar when they defend.
  3. Get up on that elbow and scoot to get the better angle for the scissor sweep....use your hips/keep the grip!

I like the idea of having a home club, and a local community. Its great you can combine your local community and merge it with an online community.
