Bitshares 2.0 OPEN.LISK Wallet Down for a Week!

On May First I sent 149.52 LISK to my Bitshares OPEN.LISK account. Here is a link to the TX below: https://explorer.lisk.io/tx/7182829154228687173

Poloniex sent the LISK (LSK) to my Bitshares OPEN.LISK wallet, the currency is sitting in the wallet with confirmations, however the coins are still not feasibly accessible from the GUI on the Bitshares exchange wallet. Since this was unusual I contacted OpenLedger support for re-assureance at the email below:
[email protected]
The main problem was the whole gateway was down, not showing an error message or pinwheel, just non existent. Under the Gateway tab it was just black, something was very very wrong!

To top it all off, that is where Openledger normally displays their support email. So now I was panicking, and could not even find support. This got me thinking, was this an isolated event, or was this a real problem?

Image Below, this is what a working gateway looks like, less the OPEN.LISK wallet functionality.

Notice the image above, the gateway is working, but the LISK OPEN. LISK wallet is not! Notice as of May 09 it still does not show my coins.

In my support request I let them know about the problems I was finding, and suggested that maybe they add a message that says “SERVER MAINTENANCE” when the gateway was not working. Below is a rough example of what a message could look like.

If there was a server maintenance, then people like me could steer clear of situations like this and avoid them before they happen. Especially if a currency is Down, i.e. like OPEN.LISK, they need to have messages, maybe a small red exclamation mark, skull and crossbones, anything!

Below is the response from open ledger.

“There is a problem with the gateway server right now that is preventing it from serving up new deposit addresses to some people. We're looking into in cooperation with the OpenLedger devops team. We should have the issue resolved some time today, sorry for the delay.

On a related note, the LISK wallet is also experiencing technical problems right now, and it may take a few days to get functional as it requires OpenLedger to setup a new server for it.

As a final note, I agree that it would be good for the GUI to display a better message when the gateway is down or under maintenance, so I'm CC'ing OpenLedger management, so that they can consider this for future development of the web page.”

This message was just what I needed to help reassure me about the situation. Openledger was prompt and courteous about getting back to me. While I had them on the line I wanted to clear the air about something LISK related that I recently read online about their services. I saw a few articles and posts claiming Openledger LISK is a scam and I wondered why.
Be very careful reading from here out it can get confusing, but it is important to understand if you are using OPEN.LISK on Bitshares. Here is what I found.

OPEN.LISK, is not a scam, but LISK inside open ledger without the OPEN. is the scam, buyer beware!

I decided to do some due diligence before I contacted support, did a quick google search about Openledger and LISK, and to my surprise there were some issues! Here is a sample of what I found.

I decided to check with Openledger, heres the official answer from Openledger below:

“There are two assets named LISK on the bitshares blockchain: LISK and OPEN.LISK. Unfortunately, due to poor GUI choices, both now look somewhat similar on the GUI unless you hover over it. Hover over your LISK and you can see which one you have. OPEN.LISK is the LISK supported by OpenLedger (it is not a scam). I think it is likely that "LISK" is a scam."

This answer got me thinking, then why don’t they refer to OPEN.LISK as LSK which is the official symbol anyway? Especially for the gateway, right now you have to choose LISK to transfer LISK to OPEN.LISK, instead on the gateway the choice should be LSK, and then you transfer LISK LSK to OPEN.LISK.

So as you can see, at the moment you have to be very careful when you deal with LISK on Bitshares. Luckily I had just sent my LISK to OPEN.LISK, so everything should be O.K. when the wallet finally gets fixed, I hope!

UPDATE: MAY 09 2017

I am getting very concerned, I contacted support for an update, but they have "dropped off communication", and that is the most worrying part. I still cannot access my LISK coins, now it has been a whole week! This is the first time getting coins stuck in this LISK grey area on Bitshares 2.0. , I will post any updates as I find out more.
I edited the title of the post from 72 hours to a week for accuracy!

I agree with you. There is other rip-off items as well. They should be banned. And more real items added.

Thanks for replying. I have not heard back from support with an update, and my LISK is still not available on the Bitshares platform.

Try tagging them so they hear you. They are here also. @openledger

Good idea, I will do that. I also sent them a link to my post just in case.

I believe they act as witness for both Steemit and bitsheres, it is in their interest to keep the users happy. I have sent coins through them several times and not had a problem. But never Lisk.

Good News, I got in contact with them Last night and by this morning I just checked and my LISK are there, everything worked out. It turns out I was wrong for worrying, bitshares was working hard the whole time to get the issue solved. Thank you Bitshares!

Glad to hear that worked out.

I have had a few similar problems getting transactions to come through exchanges. I'm sure you've heard many more dramas. Nice that people post their difficulties, so that others don't do through similar anxiety.
