[Video] Bitshares Security: Delegated Proof of Stake

in #bitshares10 years ago

The next video from the Chronos Worker Proposal has been launched! This time, we have a detailed overview of the Delegated Proof of Stake system that makes the DEX so fast and fluid for traders of all levels. This video covers a brief history of some of the major blockchain security models, and then pits Bitshares head-to-head against the most popular model, Bitcoin's Proof of Work.

Enjoy!

very nice video chronos. i love bitshares.

Very informative post thanks for work

You didn't really cover the details about the differences in the two security models. For example, DPoS has an attack vector where exchanges hold significant stake and can vote with it, even they are holding the stake on behalf of their customers.

DPoS has a finality of consensus but PoW only a probabilistic consensus. OTOH, DPoS can be entirely stalled by a 51% attack, but this is very unlikely in PoW because 51% attacks in PoW are just not plausible due to the inability to recover costs of hardware investments. Whereas, DPoS has nothing-at-stake because the liquidity of stake is roughly on par with liquidity of shorting.

There are many more details. Are you a developer of Bitshares?
