1)Encouraging peace for citizens

There are over ten ongoing civil wars in the world. Citizens of a nation are fighting against themselves due to political or economic reasons. The ones who are suffering in these wars are the same citizens. They cannot get access to their basic needs and they have to live in constant fear of attacks. Most countries are divided into two factions each supporting their own cause which they believe is the best foot forward. However, it reaches a point where arguments go beyond intellectually dissecting the ideas of each faction into full blown civil wars. The cause is, in most cases, a people that feel neglected by those in authority. They fight against those who support them in order to try and gain what they think has been wrongfully taken away from them or has not been provided for by those in power. The ruling bodies are the ones that end up causing this civil strife in their areas of jurisdiction. The law in these areas may be neglected or those passed may be done in favor of the majority or those in power. A large percentage of the world ends up suffering because of a minority who have devised ways to manipulate the thinking of the masses. As long as their goal is achieved, they do not care about whatever happens in between.

Some states come in to try and resolve issues but they do this with certain conditions that will disadvantage the country in conflict. They come with conditions such as adopting policies from them or furthering certain agendas which may not resonate with the citizens of the country in conflict. Imposing laws or restrictions just to offer arbitration services should also be a crime in its own way. It is taking advantage of the suffering of other countries. There is rarely any genuine love between countries. All are pushing their own agendas set up by the top brass as they neglect what their citizens and the whole human population needs.

The whole point of having structures in place in countries was to safeguard the rights of citizens. Citizens were to enjoy movement and other services provided for by those they put in power. However, this has not been the case as most governments end up neglecting the needs of their people. For these needs to be met as desired by the citizens, the power that they have given to their leaders has to be decentralized. There are governing systems that are trying out decentralized structures but they still involve central leaders. There needs to be near absolute decentralization where every citizen can contribute to the decisions and laws being made in a country. It would not be fair to have a section of representatives who do not understand the plight of large part of their population, to come up with laws that are meant to serve the disadvantaged. This has to involve those who are suffering. This is where Bitnation comes in. They are coming up with a platform that offers governing services for all the members that join the platform. The concept behind it is pretty simple. They want to decentralize power from government to the people.

The platform that Bitnation is creating is based on blockchain. Transparency is such an important factor in any government or governing body. Without full transparency, systems are bound to fail through mistrust. With blockchain supporting their system, the platform will remain transparent all through. The Ethereum blockchain is their protocol of choice but only for a short while as they plan to support other blockchains on their platform. There will be heavy use of smart contracts in Bitnation. Smart contracts have a binding power that cannot be disputed. Once you sign the contract you are bound by it and you have to deliver whatever you agreed upon. The other technology that will run this platform is known as the Pangea software. Its build is similar to that of a mobile chat application. Through Pangea, members of Bitnation will be able to build their own nations and make agreements on deals or confliction issues through arbitrators.

Bitnation offers a solution in the form of creation of nations and freedom of joining any nation in their platform. These nations can be formed by anyone who has joined the Bitnation’s platform. The founding members of that nation come up with the rules that govern that nation. The constitution of that nation and other laws are written and recorded in smart contracts. The aim of these nations will be to attract citizens through their laws and rules. The rules will have a defined area where they can apply. One of the conditions for the rules to apply is to become a member of that nation. Membership is however not restricted, you can change states depending on the type of laws you feel most comfortable with.

This platform has the potential to revolutionize the whole world. With the power resting on the citizens they are bound to make better choices, choices that will suit them. For these nations to be built, there will have to be a group with a common goal. This group will decide on how the nation they create will run depending on their goal. Their goal may be economic empowerment or good relations with other nations. Their rules will be crafted to follow this path. Members of Bitnation may then decide to join this nation if it suits their needs. IT may end up averting confrontations that usually arise in countries because people have different goals. With a common goal, it is easier to follow the rules that have been put in place if they will achieve this common purpose. What is even more exciting is that there are no barriers when one wants to join a nation. No discrimination on the basis of race or religion, the platform will accept anyone willing to join and participate in its activities. The platform is also not bound by any geographical borders. Anyone from any geographical area can join Bitnation.

3)Modernising world standards

There are countries where certain practices are outlawed. These laws vary in every country and they could have a huge impact on the lives of citizens. There are certain issues that are sensitive and may not be fully adopted by the majority in these countries or they may be blocked by section of the minority. Things such as same sex marriages are still a taboo in some areas. They may not be accepted but people have the freedom to choose how they will live their lives. Gender is the other emerging issue. The definition of gender is getting broader and this may not be accepted everywhere. There are some services that may not be obtained if certain communities see you as ‘different’. Bitnation’s platform comes in to solve such issues. Through their system, you will be able to access lawyers of different specialization who can sort out any issue you have. They could issue marriage certificates which would be recognized in your Bitnation state. Bitnation could even make your gender legal. It can also be a good way to avoid confrontation as all the laws of a particular nation are clear for everyone to see, so no one would join if they are not comfortable with them.

When it comes to conflicts, Bitnation may have the best solution yet. Its arbitration system is designed in a way that promotes justice for all. Nations may also come up with their own rules of administering justice but Bitnation’s is likely to be their choice. Arbitration between two disagreeing parties will be done much faster than in normal court systems. The court systems we have are designed to have high level cases heard as soon as possible while a pile of unfinished cases remain unsolved because of the discrimination in the system. With Bitnation, an arbitrator will be selected by the two parties in disagreement. The arbitrator will be compensated for the work that is going to be done depending on the outcome made. The compensation may be done by both parties or by the losing party depending on the agreement. This system will save a lot of time that would have been used in unnecessary procedures and may even help reduce the load of cases in court houses.

The problem with involving humans in some of these processes is their fallibility. They can be easily corrupted by their fellow beings. This is prevented by blockchain through its ledger like recording of transactions within the platform and also by using autonomous agents to support the process in Bitnation. Machines and software function as programmed and are harder to manipulate compared to the human race. This will act as a foolproof way against any corruption or favoritism in Bitnation.

In as much as Bitnation seems disruptive, it comes with organization. Each member will have different roles to play in Bitnation. Having a structure is important as each one is aware of the role to be played and how it needs to be executed. These structures will also promote the coexistence of nations within Bitnation. They will have representatives with different titles who will express the will of the nation to other nations and promote partnerships and cooperation within Bitnation. The structure will also provide a platform where meetings between citizens can be planned and held in physical place. Citizens will also play the role of proposing amendments incase the laws become obsolete. This will help nations keep up to date with the ever changing and developing world.
