8 November 2016 (Bloomington, Indiana): Bitland is currently developing prototypes for home and property insurance that employ blockchain solutions toward documenting and establishing immutable provenance especially vital for portable objects of value. This process involves assigning an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) card or chip to a piece of property and recording pertinent object information onto a blockchain-backed data base.

Bitland leadership met in Phoenix on October 26 to test the systems prototype (the RFID card and digital information storage infrastructure) on a painting specially commissioned for this purpose. As a result of the successful application of this technology Bitland registered the very first original work of art onto the blockchain.

This development arrives on the heels of another milestone achieved earlier in October when Bitland recorded the first land title onto the blockchain. The property, Bitland’s local office in Kumasi, Ghana can be viewed here.

What does the month of November hold in store for Bitland? In addition to participating in industry-related events in Vienna and Montpellier this month, Bitland will be traveling to Berlin to compete in the Fincluders start-up challenge. The competition, initiated and sponsored by the EFSE (European Fund for Southeast Europe) and EFSE DF (European Fund for Southeast Europe Development Facility), supports start-ups that offer innovative fintech solutions in middle- to low-income countries. Bitland Global is one of fifteen “fincluders” invited to participate in a two-day workshop that will include mentoring and networking sessions and culminate in a pitching event to take place before a jury of high profile investors who will award the top three companies with a cash prize.
