Bitcoin, the new year opens with falling prices

The most popular cryptocurrency in the world, bitcoin, registered negative dynamics for the first time since 2015 at the beginning of the year. RIA Novosti reports this.

According to the CoinMarketCap portal, at 10.20 (Moscow time), the bitcoin has fallen by 3.08% - to $ 13.5 thousand. At the Bitfinex exchange rate, it decreased by 4.43% to $ 13.22 million; on the GDAX - of 0.97%, to $ 13.35 thousand; and according to the Coindesk portal - of 0.71%, to 13.32 thousand dollars.

On the evening of the first of January, the bitcoin fell by more than 3%. To make a comparison: on the first day of 2017 the cryptocurrency had grown by 3.6% - up to $ 998.

Until December, the cost of bitcoins did not exceed $ 10,000, but then explosive growth began: on December 18th, cryptocurrency reached $ 19,511,000, and the annual total rose 14-fold. Then began the decline, which accelerated in the last days of December after the news on the next implementation of the protocol, which led to the formation of another encrypted currency: the Bitcoin God (GOD).

As for the other cryptocurrencies, according to CoinMarketCap, the price of the Etherereum grew by 14.39%, to 882.84 dollars; Bitcoin Cash decreased by 2.6% to $ 2.45 thousand; Ripple grew by 1.81%, up to 2.29. The market capitalization of cryptocurrency is 627.88 billion dollars, more than a third is represented by Bitcoin.
