AntMiner S5: still relevant for modern mining?
Bitmain released his minor AntMiner S5 Bitcoin at the end of 2014. At that time, he was one of the fastest and most effective ASIC miners available, rivaled by SP20 Spondoolies-Tech.
However, the S5 has long been outpaced by new models.
As a product of a 28nm manufacturing process, the S5 can not reasonably compete with modern 16nm or 14nm ASIC designs in terms of hashing or energy efficiency.
