Ethereum es una plataforma descentralizada para aplicaciones. Es alimentado por Ether, una criptomoneda, que a su vez es alimentada por la tecnología Blockchain. Las aplicaciones se construyen con el uso de contratos inteligentes −algoritmos informáticos que se ejecutan a sí mismos−, sobre la base de datos entrantes de la red. La naturaleza auto-realizable de tales aplicaciones les permite ejecutarse sin problemas de confiabilidad asociada con los operadores humanos.

Applications are built with the use of intelligent contracts-computer algorithms that execute themselves-based on incoming data from the network. The self-performing nature of such applications allows them to run without reliability problems associated with human operators.
