Chile’s benchmark IPSA gain of 32 percent this year was pretty good. But it pales in comparison to the “chaucha” which has returned approximately 69,000 percent in two months. The cryptocurrency which translates to “green beans” was created in Chile over the algorithm for Litecoin, and began trading in October at one peso. The wild ride has seen prices swing between 0.3 and 1,000 pesos.

Chaucha is a cryptocurrency designed to educate Latin American people about all the crypto-economic alternatives currently available, and also to be some kind of “entry level cryptocurrency” for this market.

In Chile, the word Chaucha is used to name a small amount of money (like cents in the US Dollar), and the developer selected this word to represent the culture of Chile. The motto of the Chaucha Project is to explain the concept in the easiest way, and the word Chaucha is the best way for Chilean people to understand a cryptocurrency.

Chile has one of the most stable economies in Latin America, and because of that, Chilean people have a lot of trust in banks and centralized entities like the Chilean Central Bank and the pension system. The cryptocurrency market is small and a lot of people don’t know much about this new kind of technology. With chaucha, the developers are trying to create an “entry level cryptocurrency” to educate Spanish speaking people about the technology behind cryptocurrencies, with tutorials and examples in their own language. The Chaucha Network will be an educational tool to see and feel the blockchain technology, and maybe with this the developers will be able to push more people in Chile and around the world to adopt the use of cryptocurrencies.

The Chaucha was born as a practical experiment to understand how a cryptocurrency project is managed, and thus to allow a transfer of that knowledge to new developers in the future. When Chaucha was created, the developers decided to create the Chaucha Project, which is an organization dedicated to generating a more pleasant ecosystem for new users of cryptocurrencies, with the creation of software and documentation tools. The act of creating the Chaucha has allowed people to see how these projects evolve over time, and how they are adapting and evolving depending on the use that users give them over time.

Born on August 11, 2017 this digital currency is based on Litecoin's algorithm. The chaucha, also a way to refer to a small amount of money, was made by developers Cesar Vasquez and Camilo Castro. The green bean currency seems to have staying power where others, like the now defunct Chilcoin, have been ephemeral. So far, 1.5 million chauchas have been mined with a limit of 123 million.

Chaucha buyer beware: volatility remains rampant. The value of Bitcoin has been known to fall by over 30 percent within days in the past, while the price of Litecoin has been known to fall by as much as 43 percent within a matter of days.
