Dogecoin founder Billy Markus said he bought a meme-inspired cryptocurrency for the first time since he helped create it eight years ago.

The announcement comes after Dogecoin's massive price drop over the past week, losing more than a third of its value.

Markus created the cryptocurrency in 2013 with fellow software developer Jackson Palmer, and soon sold or redeemed his original holdings. Cryptocurrency investors by constantly checking prices.
