RE: Don Tapscott : The Blockchain Revolution

People decide what to do. Not smart contracts. Myriads of things are going on constantly. You just cant vote on everything. Just because you/me do not know anything about, lets say bridge building or international trade agreements ets... Plus we do not have enough time. Plus we do not want to waste our life on all this.
So we end up the same system. Maybe more transparent. Maybe less=) Because of all the cryptography, coding, increase of information rate - that our brain just cant handle.
We already have politicians on steemit=)

Sort:

People decide to get on the Internet too, but you have technology that enables it. We can decide to have a decent government, and have it implemented with technology.

I'm sorry you're not able to think outside the box. That will ensure you remain a slave to the system - mind, body and spirit.

"Because of all the cryptography, coding, increase of information rate - that our brain just cant handle." That is nothing that would affect the average citizen, anymore than you have to understand computer programming in order to utilize a web browser.

"We already have politicians on steemit=)" I'm not sure what point you were trying to make with that statement.

You did not understand what point am I trying to make but already called me a slave.
Point is. You have to delegate decision making. Does not mater how you will store data. Blockchain ensures that nobody will cheat on data stored. Integrity if you will. But how does it prevents corruption? War? Ignorance?

We're ALL slaves to a very corrupt, broken system. I didn't mean that you were somehow responsible for anything bad. Probably most people are still locked-in to a certain way of thinking that is extremely limiting. So I wouldn't take it personally. Yet the sooner that everyone, or at least the overwhelming majority can actually see what's going on, the sooner that we can begin to make changes that matter. Jumping back and forth between democratic and republican presidents, within the broken system, doesn't do anything to address the real problem(s). Look at Bush and Obamma. One democrat, one republican, but they sucked equally. That's nothing more than the Divide-and-Rule method of controlling the masses that's been used since the days of the Romans, at least. Democrats blame the republicans, and vice versa. The people that can't see what the real problem is, pick a side, like in a sporting event, one team wins, and the oppression/corruption/war continues. We don't need to elect a president, we need to erect a new system.

I'll leave you to find your answers. My opinions would obviously mean nothing to you, which I understand, and going back an forth accomplishes nothing. I'd start by learning about Smart Contracts. They can't be manipulated with corruption, political interest, or emotions. Are they single-handedly the answer? I doubt it, but combined with the decentralized nature of Blockchains, it's going in the right direction. Centralization of just about anything, whether it be power/government, money, or a database, is a recipe for bad things to happen.

Some people are saying that the Blockchain Technology is one of the most valuable technologies mankind has ever invented, and I agree. It has the potential to make major positive changes in business, banking, our currency, production, government, and much more. Plus, it's already helping people in third world countries become part of commerce. They can now act as their own bank to send and receive money. That's huge, in and of itself.

I don't claim to have a working system in place, but I do imagine a system much, much better than what we have now. If people can't even imagine something better, something better can never happen. It's easy to just be negative about everything and talk about why it won't work, but if everyone had that attitude there would have never been any progress, and we'd still be living in caves and hunting with spears.

Good luck.

I am not negative. I believe that technology can make our life better. But it can errant a slavery regime much more efficient and sinister then current one as well.
Technology is a tool. Hammer can be used for building or for killing... We cant stop frontier technologies like AI or GMO. We just hope that they will solve our issues (which we don't actually have), and not wipe our civilization.
I am very curious on implementing governance fully electronic. But i cant figure that out even for 1000 people perfect village. I heard that Switzerland has the best experience in complicated democratic systems. Maybe Ill go and read about it instead of asking questions. But even this idea came in a process of discussion. So discussion is important.
Blockchain is a good base for electronic governance system to reside in. Because users will have more trust to it.
Good luck to you too!)
