Ukrainian 'poison ad' hacker group is exposed as BTC nears $10k be on high ALERT
A group of Ukrainian hacker called Coinhoarder has been investigated and exposed by Cisco’s Talos cybersecurity team after they manage to steal over $50 million in cryptocurrency from various users of Blockchain.info, which is one of the most popular providers of digital currency wallets. These shocking report reveals how thieves was able to mastered a “very simple” technique through purchasing Google ads with top popular search keywords related to cryptocurrency “ with aim the aim of poisoning user search results” and then steal the contents of crypto wallets. In other words, (example) if you ever enter search terms like “blockchain” or “bitcoin wallet,” you would see results sending you to malicious websites that is masquerading as legitimate domains for Blockchain.info wallets. This “massive phishing campaign” also took six-month of deep investigation between Cisco and Ukraine’s Cyberpolice. Companies like Facebook had ban all cryptocurrency ads from thier platform earlier this year, and currently Google is working very hard to root out abusive ads.
