Carrefour uses Blockchain to certify its fresh products
Carrefour has just launched the first implementation of Blockchain in the food sector. The first product chosen for this is the chicken farm raised without antibiotics which distributes under its own brand. Thanks to the Blockchain technology, an unalterable record of the product is kept throughout the production chain, so that the consumer can check the quality of the product on site.
The consumer can scan a QR code that appears on the packaging of the product with the Carrefour mobile application and in this way can obtain the date of birth of the chicken, which is the farm where he was raised, what was his diet, date of packaging and distribution to the supermarket.
One of the essential characteristics of Blockchain technology is that once you write information in it, it is impossible to modify or delete this information. In this way we avoid that a final distributor can deceive the consumers by passing the product through ecological, since the consumer can check all the information of the product in question from the beginning of the chain.
