Bitcoin Secret: Bitcoin Cash developer finds serious double-spending bug in Bitcoin and responsibly reports it. Update to Bitcoin Core 0.16.3 asap.

Mal abseits der ganzen Lager-Kämpfe zwischen Bitcoin Cash (BCH) und Bitcoin (BTC), gab es in den letzten Tagen eine durchaus positive Zusammenarbeit der beiden Projekte. Und zwar hat ein Bitcoin Cash-Entwickler unter dem Pseudonym "awemany" einen sehr schwerwiegenden Bug in Bitcoin gefunden, der es potentiell ermöglicht hätte, Guthaben mehrfach auszugeben und so sogar die Inflation und die Geldmenge zu erhöhen.

Dieser Bug wurde jetzt gefixed und daher sollte man alle Nodes auf Bitcoin Core 0.16.3 sobald wie möglich updaten.

Bugs sind in großen Software-Projekten unvermeidlich. Wichtig ist, wie damit umgegangen wird und es ist schön zu sehen, dass man Fehler auch wieder beheben kann, auch wenn sie so schwerwiegend wie dieser hier sind. Respekt auch an "awemany", der den Bug verantwortungsvoll gemeldet hat.

Apart from all the camp fights between Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Bitcoin (BTC), there has been a positive cooperation between the two projects in the last few days. A Bitcoin Cash developer under the pseudonym "awemany" found a very serious bug in Bitcoin, which potentially would have made it possible to double-spend and even increase the inflation and money supply of Bitcoin.

This bug has been fixed now and therefore all nodes should be updated to Bitcoin Core 0.16.3 as soon as possible.

Bugs are unavoidable in large software projects. What is important is how they are handled and it is nice to see that you can fix bugs even if they are as serious as this one. Kudos also to awemany who has reported the bug responsibly.
