Click on EDIT post. Copy Picture and then "Control + V". That would work for posts already published without pictures. For new Posts, the Editor will give you option to load picture either from your disk or external url.
Start a new post, upload the picture you want to use and take the link from there and paste in the avatar tab. Hope this helps you.

i wasn't sure either -- my wife had to send a picture to the internet to create a url so i could post --anyway sorry i can't help and i am now following you and upvoting your posts -- please do the same for me
