Welcome to Zimbabwe , the land of voodoo economics. I am sure by now many of you have come across some story about how Bitcoin is selling for a massive premium in Zimbabwe. There is only one cryptocurrency exchange in the country called Golix.
As of this Post the price is hovering around $9 000 +/- .
In a nutshell , Zimbabwe is in an economic crisis caused by an overspending government. There is very little confidence in the financial system which is why bitcoins have soared in value. And it is not just bitcoins, cryptocurrencies in general are valued at a premium relative to other crypto exchanges.
