Bitcoin Cash 8MB Block mined! Spam attack fails hard.

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

This is really good! It shows that BCH is resistant almost completely to the normal spam attacks that cripple the BTC network.

The network was spammed today for BCH, the spam amounted to 38,000 +transactions at very low fees, but they were almost all cleared in one HUGE 8MB block!!! Eventually BTC will have to raise block size anyways because spam still plagues their network(unless they think only being able to process 4k to 5k or so transactions every 10 minutes can last forever), whereas BCH can easily cope with the same scale spam attack, and clear it out within 10 to 20 minutes. Spam attacks on BCH will need to be huge. BTC had problems with spam attacks and the mempool would start to get 40,000 to 200,000 unconfirmed transactions. In BCH that can be cleared within a few hours.

Source of 8MB block being minded.

This could be a huge week for BCH

Once we get to block 479808, BCH will have it's first "natural" difficulty adjustment, sometime on Saturday 19th August. Difficulty should be adjusted downwards by about 60%. Bitcoin Cash will then be operating at a difficulty of 5% of it's original difficulty(AKA the difficulty BTC was at when BCH split off)

This means there could be more miners switching from BTC to BCH, as it may become more profitable to mine for a week or two. The two will likely go back and forth, BTC could be more profitable for a week or 2, then switch back to BCH. If that happens, it will likely give BCH a big boost in price.

This could be the start of a great weekend for those of us who understand on-chain scaling is preferable. BTC Core and their devs want centralization. In the end I do not expect BTC-Core to be the dominant coin. BCH will later become the "real BTC" because it most closely follows Satoshi's model of on-chain scaling, SEGWIT is an abomination that makes signatures less secure compared to BCH.

Time will obviously tell the full story. I see it is best to invest in BCH.

All people follow bitcoin new thx for share

Yes! it is a very exciting time we are living in. To see how we have more options available to us to get off of the government financial grid.

Even if we all disagree on BTC or BCH, it is more choices that will help us become more free from government monopoly on money :)

Already on board for what is coming.

Do I hear buy bitcoin cash?
Buy!.jpg

It makes sense to me.

In the end, "BTC" will have to raise the block size limit anyways. So It really makes no sense why BCH isn't considered better than BTC already(other than it confuses people).

I'm going to buy just 1 and see what happens in the next few weeks. Hopefully it passes its ATH!
