Maybe so but this technology is so new that we can't fully trust it yet. There are still many problems with this technology that proves we're not ready for that change, yet.
This Monday SteemIt has gave us another example of that, when a simple bug... led to a downtime of 14h for every user.
Can you imagine if you had a plane to catch, and couldn't pay for the hotel because the whole network was 14h down for maintenance? Heads would roll.
Anyway, I hope Blockchain evolves as fast as the Internet did. 25 years ago, we were all still searching for "ASCII Art."

Yes there are lots of challenges yet to overcome, but we are moving in the right direction. Steem is certainly much more experimental than bitcoin.
