My Crypto Experience
I'll say this first, I'm not a professional investor, nor a professional writer.
I first heard of Bitcoin in 2012, I had no clue what it was or what it would one day become. I forgot about it for a few years, but I was always drawn to it, and overall it interested me.
Sometime in 2017 I finally bit the bullet and started doing some research on it. Lo and behold I discovered 1,000 different Cryptocurrencies! I found an entire unregulated market that was functioning and existing, it blew my mind!
So many different things going on, projects, "white papers", "blue papers", ICO's WTF is happening!? It can be overwhelming when you first get into it. My opinion is to not try to learn it all at once, pick one thing and research the hell out of it. Which is what I did, I'm confident to say I'm fairly well versed in the top cryptos IMO.
September of 2017 is when I made my first purchase, I can't remember if it was LTC or BTC that I bought, I had no clue what I was doing. Coinbase was the first "Exchange" I was familiar with. It's great for newbies to get their first coin, but you soon realize that the fees are RIDICULOUS!!! I would make small purchases on paydays and such. Adding up the fees that I've paid over a couple weeks of buying and I thought there has to be a cheaper exchange out there. Almost every exchange is WAY cheaper than Coinbase! They are not easy to use though, especially if your new to the game. Bitstamp was my next step. It taught me that Bitcoin was stupid expensive to send and that Litecoin was the answer! I hated Binance and any other exchange with a similar platform. Over time I became accustomed to this style though, again, very confusing to anyone thats new to it.
Now I'm up to 21 or 22 different cryptos that I'm holding, and I'm actually in the green with most of them! The "crash" from 19K to 8K of bitcoin is just a hard lesson for some to learn. I bought some at 17K so I know the feeling. You cant win them all, and dont buy with emotion is one of the best things I have learned so far.
Like I said, research what interests you and make an informed decision. I've bought some shitcoins, and have been scammed out of bitcoin, but thats a story for a different day.
I hope my ramblings helped you if you've read this far! Thanks
I'm completely new to the crypto scene and try to pick up pieces from everyone. This has been a funny yet informative post to read! Good luck on all future investments!
