TradeBlock - Awesome Live Bitcoin Blockchain Viewer

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

Hi there!

One of the cool features of Bitcoin is that it's all open and everyone can take a look at current transactions and state of the Network.

It would be all just numbers and hashes but thankfully there are people smart and talented enough to translate all of those into easy to understand visual symbols - and then serve it live.

One of the websites that does it really well is:

https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin

Basically what it does is display blocks as boxes and then add to it a lot of data in form of bars and statistics.

Each box is a block and the distance between them is the time needed to generate new block. Blue and yellow bars are number of transactions and BTC sent in each block.

Also very useful are the statistics on the right side of the screen:

This side represents the mempool - the number of unconfirmed transactions. Thanks to it you can estimate how long your BTC transaction will be processed and how high fee you need to pay. Currently you can see, that there are around 4k unconfirmed transactions with average fee of 16 Satoshi per byte - both number are rather low so your BTC transactions should be processed fairly quickly.

And all of this is automatically updated and display live data - you can even see every transaction on the Bitcoin Blockchain as it happens. It's quite relaxing to look at - it just works and you don't have to do anything :D

See you next time!

Cool to look at but can it be used for any purpose?

I've been following the mempool on this page after tge Segwit implementation. Thanks
