The rise of crypto-currencies revolutionizes the world of finance, it also revolutionizes the world of free money with Airdrop. What is an Airdrop? How to participate? It's this way.

What is an Airdrop?
An Airdrop is a free distribution of crypto-currencies (or tokens) to a number of members ranging from a select few to anyone making the request. This distribution is often done by the creative company of the token or currency in question.

The goal of this free distribution of tokens is multiple for the company: to make known through the airdrop advertising, to greatly increase the number of users and owners of the token to ensure the sustainability of the company, or thank its community for their follow-up and their involvement in the project.

The company distributes a fixed number of tokens free of charge and these can total a very good amount! From a few euros, it can sometimes reach several hundred euros. Among the most famous past Airdrops, we find that of Ripple or Stellar Lumens, two big names in cryptocurrency.

1) Simple Registration
This is the simplest Airdrop type. Most of the time, you simply have to register on the company's website and to register, it offers free tokens. These are directly associated with your account on the site, they are not linked to a wallet. You will then be able to use them on the site or send them to a wallet depending on the type of token. In the end, a simple email address and password are sufficient for this type of Airdrop and in this, the Airdrop is accessible to everyone!

IMPORTANT: As a precaution, I strongly recommend using a secondary e-mail address and a password different from your usual password. If we do our best to offer quality Airdrops, we are never safe from a site that would like to recover your mails / passwords. Remember: crypto-currencies are a bit of the Wild West of modern times!

2) Distribution on Wallet

The principle is similar to Airdrops "Simple Registration" except that you will also need the address of your Wallet. In this type of Airdop, the company distributes you tokens directly on your personal Wallet! No need for an account on their site. You will need to provide a valid email address and the address of your Wallet Ethereum. Sometimes we can ask you for a different wallet (WAVES wallet for example), but most of the time the token will be of type ERC-20 and will ask for an Ethereum wallet.

Attention, you should never provide the address of your wallet located on an exchange site (kraken, coinbase, bittrex or other) but the address of a private wallet on pain of never receiving your tokens. Once you have completed your e-mail and address, you will only have to wait to receive your tokens on your wallet. In order to be visible, you must at times add the token on your MyEtherWallet in the list of available tokens. If necessary, I will mention it in my weekly articles.

IMPORTANT: As a precaution, I advise you to use a secondary e-mail address. Very important also: never provide the private key (or private key) of your wallet to anyone! If a site asks you, it's a scam. Do not confuse your address which serves you to receive your tokens with your private key which serves you to have access to your wallet.

3) Snapshot

Airdrops Snapshot type are very different from the previous two. To distribute tokens, the company will make an inventory, a photo of the contents of your wallet at a given time. Depending on the number of tokens (or cryptocurrencies) you own, you will be entitled to a number of tokens.

For example, you will be offered to give you 10 EXE tokens for each ETH you have on your wallet. This snapshot can be done by analyzing the number of ETHs you have, but it can also be done by looking at the number of BTCs you have on your Bitcoin wallet. Each company decides which cryptocurrency it wants "snapshot". One can also offer you 0.1 EXE for each EXE you hold (EXE is a purely fictional cryptocurrency invented for the understanding of this example).

To participate in this type of Airdrop, you will often be asked only the address of your Wallet (which will again be a private wallet). Sometimes, you will not be asked for anything at all and the tokens will magically arrive on your wallet without doing anything! This is the case for the OmiseGO Airdrop. She is not beautiful life?

4) BitcoinTalk

This one is a bit original but it is also the most popular type of Airdrop! This is Airdrop made by companies via the forum Bitcointalk.org. On this forum which is among the best known in the world of crypto-currencies, each member has a rank in view of his seniority and his number of posts. Depending on your rank, many companies distribute a certain number of tokens for a certain action. The action can be very simple like posting your wallet address in comment (logic), or do them a little publicity by modifying your personal signature on the site. Some have very specific requests and these will always be stated on the BitcoinTalk forum. It's up to you to read them and respect them.

BitcoinTalk Airdrops can be very large and save you thousands of dollars if you have an account with advanced rank. I advise you to quickly open an account on Bitcointalk to start to garner seniority and start writing some posts on their forum. Please write constructive posts because spam is not tolerated on this forum.

5) Other
Other types of Airdrop have been identified to date. Some require the download of their application on the Play Store to benefit from free tokens.
