There is a growing awareness of cryptocurrencies, even a friend of mine has asked me if I have heard about BTC. Cryptocurrencies will be co-opted by the government one day, but instead of corrupting the crypto-world, the blockchain technology which cryptos are associated will likely make the governments more honest!
