RE: How I made Bitcoin doing nothing ....
My friend and I just talked about doing that, but he's worried about just leaving it behind (because he has a day job) and the power consumption costs.
This is something I'm really considering though.
The tdp on a 1060 is around 70watts, most cpus are around 65watts to 95watts. The power draw on a single card is minimal. I haven't and I don't expect most people would notice a difference to their power bill from a single gpu running 8 to 12 hours a day. Unplug your alarm clock charge your phone at work unplug your microwave oven and that pretty much covers your energy usage. My 1060 3gb on nicehash produces 0.001 bitcoin every 4 days. That is how much you have to have on nicehash for them to put the coin in your wallet. From there you can do what you want to with the coin. Power on a single modern gpu isn't going to do much to a person's powerbill.
Ooh, thanks for the tip! I'll tell him about it, I don't have enough knowledge about it so I'll leave it to him to assess such things :)
Did you talk to your boyfriend about the costs and how to offset the energy cost?
Already did, but I guess the rates here in this country are different. He's just contemplating it. Haha
There are so many lil power pigs in a home that just unplugging, turning off and charging devices at work can save a fair amount on your energy bill.
