Bitcoin to hardfork, BitFinex hacked... What else could go wrong? EDIT: $75M stolen from Bitfinex
So you have probably noticed that Bitcoin is crashing and crashing hard. So I read here: https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-to-hardfork/ that Bitcoin is doing a hardfork. Is that the new fashion these days or is this just greed? Have the BTC fractions seen what happened to ETH and they think that they can get free money like the ETH/ETC case? I mean the internal struggle has to get resolved, but hardforking is not the way in my opinion... What do you guys think? Has anyone researched this further what are the hardfork alternatives? I am going to dive into it today.
Also, I just saw that BitFInex is hacked or something. Read there blog announcement here: http://blog.bitfinex.com/uncategorized/security-breach/
So what do you think is driving the price down? The hardfork or the hack or both? My money is on both. With the leading cause being the hack.
But there is a light at the end of the tunnel, SteemIt is in the green and growing and this might be a good chance for SteemIt to do some advertising and attract more attention to itself and taking a bite out of the market share of BTC and ETH while they are in turmoil...
Its both as well as others such as the rumours about Coinbase/GDAX issues around ETC, the confusion around Ethereum's hardforks...
What Coinbase/GDAX issues around ETC?
Definitely is not the solution look at what is happening to ETH , there must be another solution , they are investigating the compromised accounts , in my humble opinion is a Bitfinex platform problem , not the bitcoin network , now is not due to make a hardfork everytime than a website is hacked.
@oecp85 the hardfork is not planned because of the Bitfinex hack. The hardfork is planned because the BTC community can't come together on how BTC should proceed... It is an endless and needless war between BTC classic and BTC core and all that it is doing is stopping the development and expanding of Bitcoin. A sad state of affairs really...
yes, i was reading more to know what is hapening, sorry my mistake about it.
Good time to buy bitcoin. Without bitcoin I dont know how you trade your steem for real hard cash? Maybe get Coinbase to support Steem?
Great time to short BTC :)
As for Coinbase support for Steem, I think that we are some time away from that yet. The site needs to get out of beta first iMO then such things could be considered... ETH took how long to get to Coinbase? 2 years or something like that?
I think one year but i could be wrong. They prob support the top 3
At the moment I think that they only support BTC and ETH... As for how long it took eth, I don't really know, but I know that the development took 2 years before it started to take off.
I'm surprised that they would even be thinking hard fork with the mess going in the ether corner. Once the shit settles NXT should be looking pretty good.
Exactly, all the mess with ETH's hardfork should give them pause but like I said in my OP I think that greed is driving them because they think it will be free money like with ETC...
My money is on Lisk to shine in about 6 months from now. Why do you think that NXT will be looking good?
All this drama is changing the landscape of crypto-currency, I think we are still not there in finding the ultimate block chain software that covers the functions of all the top coins. we need smart data/network features, smart contract, colored coins, side chains features. It needs to be big and flexible..
