Understanding the meaning and reason of "Awaiting Confirmation Network Bitcoin"

When you've made a bitcoin wallet account and you begin receiving or sending bitcoin then you will see every transaction requires "Confirm bitcoin", why do we need their "bitcoin confirmation of this"?
