Where do I buy Bitcoin - How to get started in Crypto

in #bitcoin6 years ago (edited)

If you've landed here chances are you've heard of Bitcoin. Most often the term "Bitcoin" is used to categorize all cryptocurrencies to new people in the space. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but "Blockchain Technology" is so much more!

Tips to know before purchasing your first "Bitcoin":

  • Read as much as you can on the subject using multiple sources. Blockchain technology is still a fairly new concept and takes time to fully understand. No amount of reading can substitute for actual experience, e.g., buying, transfering, and trading.

  • Never invest more than you are willing to lose. The crypto market is still very new, much like the internet of the 90's, and can be unpredictable, as it is still trying to find its stability though mass adoption.

  • Spread out your portfolio by investing in solid projects for long term holds. Until you learn how the crypto market works, this is the safest bet.

If you have decided to take the plunge and jump into this new digital world, the first place you want to start is Coinbase.

Coinbase:

  • Coinbase is the world’s most popular way to buy and sell bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin, and most recently bitcoin cash.
  • Create a digital currency wallet where you can securely store digital currency.
  • Coinbase has a wallet that works on your Android or iPhone in addition to your web browser.
  • Sign up here using my referral and we can both get $10: https://www.coinbase.com/join/5a2952b0a209c1012d6c7e91

Once you have signed up for an account, you are ready to get started. Purchase your currency of choice with Credit/ Debit, Bank Account, or Paypal. There are different fees and wait times associated with these choices, so keep that in mind. After your transfer is complete, it will be sitting in your Coinbase wallet, i.e., BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH, USD all use separate wallets indicated for storage of that specific cryptocurrency only.
