Tech Update: Square Now Selling Bitcoin?

I've seen so many amazing developments in terms of BTC mass adoption this year. It's had an epic rise from just over a thousand to more than 7,000 USD at its peak. It's been used to purchase houses and luxury cars and it has had several forks this year creating even more wealth for cryptocurrency investors.

Today I read an article entitled 'Square's Cash App: A New Place To Buy And Sell Bitcoin?' published by Forbes and I was shocked when I thought about the implications of this new development in BTC.

The app, which is used for payments between friends and is a competitor to Venmo, has also given them the option to buy or sell Bitcoin.

A few rejoiced on Twitter -- probably much to the delight of Square CEO Jack Dorsey, who is also CEO of the social media site.

I've been a diehard BTC and cryptocurrency fan since the beginning of this year and its only been since recently that I truly understood blockchain, the underlying technology and what makes BTC so special in terms of an asset and a means of settling payments or investing in other cryptocurrencies.

Square is a huge company and if they are selling BTC now, that means that even more growth can be expected from the godfather of all cryptocurrencies this year and the years to come.

A Square spokesperson said in a statement: “We’re always listening to our customers and we’ve found that they are interested in using the Cash App to buy Bitcoin. We're exploring how Square can make this experience faster and easier, and have rolled out this feature to a small number of Cash App customers. We believe cryptocurrency can greatly impact the ability of individuals to participate in the global financial system and we're excited to learn more here.”

In my opinion, this is an incredibly bold move by such a large payment processing company and opens the door into even more widespread mass adoption. The age of cryptocurrency is upon us so load your bags, it looks like Santa may be bringing gifts early this year!
