Nilai tukar mata uang digital bitcoin pada Jumat (13/10/2017) waktu AS menembus rekor tertinggi sepanjang masa, yakni 5.856 dollar AS atau setara sekitar Rp 78 juta pada akhir pekan lalu. Valuasi bitcoin pun kini setara dengan perbankan raksasa dunia, yakni 96,7 miliar dollar AS.

Penguatan nilai bitcoin yang sangat tajam tersebut dipandang didorong oleh semakin tingginya minat investor terhadap mata uang virtual tersebut. Selain itu, beberapa negara seperti Jepang sudah melegalkan Bitcoin

Namun demikian, penguatan nilai bitcoin secara signifikan tersebut bukan berarti tidak memberikan risiko. CEO Bitcoin Indonesia Oscar Dharmawan menyebut, penguatan bitcoin serupa dengan penguatan komoditas lainnya.

"Sama dengan komoditas pada umumnya, setelah harga naik sangat tinggi akan ada risiko para trader melakukan aksi profit taking (ambil untung). Jadi ada potenai penyesuian harga kembali," ujar Oscar kepada Kompas.com akhir pekan lalu.

Oscar menjelaskan, semua komoditas mengalami naik dan turun harga. Hal ini terjadi pula pada bitcoin, yang banyak dipandang sebagai mata uang maupun komoditas.

"Kalau lagi naik tentu menguntungkan investor yang beli di harga murah. Semua komoditas sama, kalau lagi banyak permintaan, harga akan naik," jelas Oscar.

Ia pun memandang, bitcoin masih memiliki peluang yang besar untuk terus berkembang di Indonesia. Pasalnya, usia bitcoin di Indonesia baru 8 tahun, sehingga ruang untuk tumbuh masih terbuka lebar.
