Companies like Samsung want to put their entire product line on the internet by 2020. It’s obvious that things like your laptop can connect to the internet, but companies want to put your microwave, washing machine, and even toaster on the internet.

It seems like it is pointless to put all the devices on the internet but the internet can do more than just send emails. The IoT helps the connect devices become better. IoT sensors on household products can help the devices work with each other and to learn from that. Everything in our house would soon involve an IoT sensor and all the sensors would be collecting a lot of data. Companies can use a lot of this data to improve their products.

Companies always need data to improve their products but right now they just end up buying them from data agencies. These agencies slowly acquire the data from consumers but customers don’t get any money for that. The companies sell the data and make millions.
