Bitcoin Flash News Article & YouTube. Australia China Egypt Ghana Jamaica South Africa and Thai
Hello everyone. My name is Nick, the host of Sobuka. Welcome to Bitcoin Flash News, a fast recap of crypto currency news taken place in the Southern and Eastern hemisphere that I will be covering with full commentary this week. On Steemit, we focus on providing insight in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies with respect to Africa, Latin America, Middle East, and the South Asian Pacific. I will start below with Latin America. (If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post below.)
Latin American Headlines: Satellites to Support Bitcoin Transactions. Bitcoin Investor From Miami Sells his House. Bitcoin Will Become the 6th Largest Currency by 2030. Jamaica to Look at Exploiting and Using More Cryptocurrencies.
This past Tuesday on Aug 15th, Bitcoin software company Blockstream announced the launch of a satellite network that would beam bitcoin to people without an internet connection all over the world for free. This service will support people in Latin America and also poor countries around the world where internet connection is expensive.[1]
Bitcoin investor Michael Komaransky who recently left his position as the head of trading at Cumberland Mining and Materials and partner at Chicago-based DRW trading, has offered to sell his home for Bitcoins.[2]
By 2030, research indicates that bitcoin will become the sixth largest global reserve currency. Earlier this month, the digital currency surpassed $4,300, achieving yet another all-time high. With a market cap just under $72 billion and having quadrupled its value since the beginning of the year, it’s hard to ignore bitcoin’s dominance. This interesting piece comes from from Rebecca Campbell of Coin Journal. She is a freelance bitcoin and blockchain journalist based in England.[3]
Next turning to Jamaica, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ), Livingstone Morrison, says the central bank must create opportunities for the exploitation of certain technologies, including cryptocurrency. This article comes form Chad Bryan of the Jamaica Information Services.[4]
Africa and the Middle Eastern Headlines: Largest Bitcoin Volume Ever to be Recorded in South Africa. South Africa Reached # 1 in Bitcoin Search. Dynamic Coin, a new crypto currency, will be launched soon in Ghana. Egypt Opens Up First Bitcoin Exchange.
There is always news coming from South Africa about Bitcoin when this past weekend South African bitcoin trading exchange for example, Luno, saw the establishment of a new all-time high for trading volume in addition to new price highs. The rise in trading volume further evidences the significant growth that South Africa’s bitcoin markets have enjoyed this year.[5]
Next, we have more news from South Africa. This country ranks #1 in online searches for Bitcoin. The #2 position is Slovenia followed by Austria, Singapore and Ghana. [6]
And speaking of Ghana, it's been a while since we visited that area. Columnist, Edward Desewu, reports the following on how things are about to change in Ghana "with the introduction of a revolutionary new cryptocurrency, known as Dynamic Coin which employs an algorithm that both stabilizes its value, thereby enabling it to act as a safe store of value, and also delivers radically faster transaction consummation times, thereby enabling it to be used for merchant sales. This has the potential to turn the cryptocurrency market on its head, toppling Bitcoin from its leadership position and possibly wiping some of the less used currencies off the map altogether. And the promoters of Dynamic Coin are now looking to use Ghana as their launch pad for introducing their new cryptocurrency into Africa." I will be looking more at what Dynamic Coin is doing in Ghana, so stay tuned on Sobuka.[7]
And finally we have interesting news coming from Egypt. So it turns out that they will now open up its first Bitcoin exchange which is interesting because Bitcoin was previously banned in that country. Please stay tuned on this story guys as I will go deeper into it this coming week.[11][12]
South Asian Pacific Headlines: Australia and China Plans to Regulate Bitcoin Even More Following Japan's Footsteps. Thai Officials Meet with Vitalik Buterin and OmiseGo.
We have more news coming from Australia on Bitcoin regulation so you guys should not be surprised about it. Australia wants to look at more measures of regulating Bitcoin as Japan. [8] And what is more interesting is that China will offer similar move to regulate Bitcoin exchanges as a way to combat fraud and money laundering.[9]
And going up north from Australia, Thai Central Bank Meets With Ethereum Co-Founder Vitalik Buterin & OmiseGo. The purpose of the meeting was to see how they can leverage OmiseGo and the Ethereum blockchain to help Thai officials improve their banking system.[10]
That is all for today ladies and gentlemen…The info I have mentioned is not coming from any place special. You can check out similar references to topics that I have discussed right below. Have a great day everyone and stay tuned for the full commentary this week on Sobuka.
