Bitpay - Credit Card - Spending your BITCOIN

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Bitcoin and other Crypto's are NOT quite there yet for spending as a consumer.. they ARE there to HODL!!!
With that said,.. Moving crypto around is a bit timely (has to be verified across the chain) and expensive (each transaction you need to pay for) currently moving $20 over from a personal wallet to a bitpay credit card is a multi-step process,...
1: send money to bitpay address from wallet
$20/ value, cost $1.26 for 10 min priority, ACTUAL time 15 minutes
2: send money from bitpay to bitpay credit card
$18/ value (as I did have some change on the bitpay wallet, cost: $0.81 invoice fee (CC), network fee $1.95, instant transfer
3: spend money on said credit card

Total cost to move $20/ with the end result of less then $18/
$4.02 and 15 minutes.

Not only that, but with the fee's you end up with a chunk less,.. I dont recommend spending bitcoin or other crypto unless in an emergency,.. its for long term hodl, not short term use..

Sort:

Eventually an IDEAL transitional situation would be a Credit Card with a built in exchange powered off the BTC, then fallbacks of other cards... or you know 100% crypto support with vendors.. ASK MERCHANTS ABOUT SUPPORTING BITCOIN AND OTHER CRYPTOS!!!

Give it 10 years.
