Yeah I think there are interest that changed Bitcoin from its original purpose. Money probably caused people to steer Bitcoin in alternative directions and I think this is why necessary upgrades have failed to be implemented. Bitcoin can change but the various stakeholders would have to come together and support necessary improvements and this would likely prove difficult because the various parties have interests other than the primary goals of what Bitcoin originally was meant to be.
