25 cent Canadian Paper Bill (1900)

A unique paper bill used in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries is the 25 cent paper bill that was in circulation in Canada from 1870 to 1935. Called 'shinplasters' these notes were popular during this time and their size is noticeably smaller then other dollar denominated notes thus coinciding with their fractional worth.

Below are pictures of the 1900 25 cent Canadian paper note. On the front of the note is a picture of Britannia with a trident and shield. On the back of the note is simply a pattern with 25 cents portrayed. As there were several million shinplasters printed the value of the note in good shape can be less than $50.
