[0060] Steem: On It's Way To New & Sustainable Highs

The chart says it all. What I wanted to comment on was the impact that a rising price of #Steem will have on social media sites that only pay you in likes while they sell your data for real world dollars.

If you listen closely to your internet connection, you will hear a giant sucking sound as blockchain sites like #Steemit and #Sphere begin draining the user base from "the big blue site" and others. While "the big blue site" has market supremacy now, that won't be the case in a few years time as their users realize that you can't retire on likes.

And you can on #Steem credits.

The mass exodus, and it will be an exodus, on social media will exponentially drain the user base over time, most likely starting with the poor African countries who are desperate for some coin and like a good pay scam. Then the bath water will slowly drain the more affluent countries who can afford to throw away their time for the glory of a 1,000 likes. Then, after one last attempt to be the friend of everyone, "the big blue site" will die a horrible death as it is unable to pivot away from it's "harvest the user base" business model.

Giving stuff for free, like a Facebook ICO token, will be the last attempt at life but it will be all too late. The bath tub will have been fully drained, leaving a nasty ring to clean from the corporate filth that is left behind.

Anyhoo, #Steem is gaining steam. And will continue to pick up momentum as more and more people swap over and see the value of social tipping. And the business model that encourages giving, rather than sucking the user base dry.
