In Nigeria, it is compulsory, no, mandatory to serve the country for a year if you are a graduate. The average turnover of youth is high each year and everyone wants to fight for the few jobs in town.
Many believe they would work in the labour market, collecting ten times the salaries their father did when he was their age in an full A.C office and gifted an official car and house, get married at 25 and live happily ever after.
It's only after they spend three years roaming the streets that they wake up to reality. Life ain't a fairytale, not a thing can be done by a wave of a wand.
The games of life are rigged. Everything is by connection. Getting admission to the University, getting good grades in school, getting a fine NYSC placement, getting a job and even getting Jollof rice with big meat at a party, all of these are rigged!
Of course you can try to change the rules and when you spend 16 years you will come to realise, you didn't make the rules, you can't change them. The best thing is to master the new rules and make it work for you.
