CoinMarketCap

A great website that tracks the market capitalization of cryptocurrencies.
The site also provides the price, 24h volume, circulating supply, 24h change in price and graphes of the coins.
Except data of different coins you can also find data on the whole cryptocurrency market:
total market cap of all the cryptocurrencies listed in the site, total 24h volume and Bitcoin percentage dominance of the whole market.
For each coin you can find very useful information such as important sites of the coin – for example it can be the official site of the coin, official forum, link to the code of the coin at GitHub and etc, at which exchanges the coin is traded and news on the social media.
Two more nice features at the site are the historical snapshots and Trending tab.
At the trending tab you can find the top performing coins – the top gainers and the top losers at different time frames – 1h/24h/7d, and also the recently added coins that the site listed.
The historical snapshots are just a snapshots of the data at a certain time in the past – you can look at the prices and be amazed how much it’s changed over the time!

TradingView

TraingView is a website with awesome price charts. There are several reasons you would like to use TradingView instead of CoinMarketCap to track prices of cryptocurrencies:

  • Candlesticks - The graphs in CoinMarketCap are simple line graphs that don't provide enough information on the price change - when you look at candlesticks you see much more information - instead of a simple dot on a line that represents the close price you get the high, the low, the open and the close price - essential information for traders!
  • Tools and indicators - At CoinMarketCap the only information provided is the price and the volume, at Trading View you can add different indicators (RSI, moving average and a lot more) and draw on the chart (support/resistance/trend line for example) - a must use tools for traders.
  • Price accuracy - At Trading View you see the real time price at the exchange you chose to look at, while at CoinMarketCap the price is updating once in a 5 minutes and the prices are calculated by averaging the prices at the different exchanges weighted by volume - which will give you not very accurate price depends on the exchange you are trading on.

While you can use use the charts with a free subscription you can also purchase a PRO subscription which will provide you much more features, but if you are a beginner the free subscription is totally fine.

Reddit

Reddit is a social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website. It's a good website to look for news or reasons for price movements of different coins - sometimes when the news/reason is very fresh and you can't find them by googling you should try Reddit. Actually, CoinMarketCap uses reddit as a source for the 'social' tab of the coins.
