Bitcoin Core vs. Bitcoin Cash

Divide and rule in politics and sociology is gaining and maintaining power by breaking up larger concentrations of power into pieces that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy. The concept refers to a strategy that breaks up existing power structures, and especially prevents smaller power groups from linking up, causing rivalries and fomenting discord among the people.

Its use is a common principle in politics. The use of this technique is meant to empower the sovereign to control subjects, populations, or factions of different interests, who collectively might be able to oppose being ruled. Machiavelli identifies a similar application to military strategy, advising in Book VI of The Art of War that a Captain should endeavour with every art to divide the forces of the enemy, either by making him suspicious of his men in whom he trusted, or by giving him cause that he has to separate his forces, and, because of this, become weaker.

I do not think the BTC/BCH split was orchestrated but I do think that some external bad actors have seen an opportunity to exploit it to implement divide and rule in the cryptocurrency community. I can no longer read /r/bitcoin due to the poor SNR and insane amount of upvoted memes and shitposts. As someone who entered this space only recently I see reasons to hold both BTC and BCH. I see BTC as being my long term savings account, somewhere to put money I don't want to transact very often. I see BCH more as a current account - a place to put wages and use to pay bills and go shopping. I really see value in having both BTC and BCH and hope they both succeed. We can do this right now, no need to wait for L2 solutions to be implemented.

I feel like the community is being externally manipulated into thinking both coins are trying to eradicate each other. It feels like an outside actor has seen their opportunity and is actively trying to use the current divide to destroy both. We are all smarter than this, don't take your eyes off the goal of taking power back from the current unfair financial systems of the world and giving power back to the people.

I hold both coins, I don't envision that ever changing. I can see the value of both coins, to me they seem complimentary. Maybe one day an L2 solution comes along and we can revisit if we still need both - but for now...
