10 Most Important Cryptocurrency Apps for Beginners
I remember when I first started investing in cryptocurrency, I had no idea where to start! Cryptocurrency apps are all over the place and many of them are difficult to use even if you’re an expert in the space. That’s why I’ve put together this list of the ten most important cryptocurrency apps for beginners. These apps will give you all the tools you need to invest successfully in cryptocurrency and make it easy to track your investments from one secure place.
Bitcoin
This is by far one of the most popular cryptocurrency apps around. For those who don’t know, Bitcoin is basically a digital currency that you can use to buy things or send money to other people. You do that by sending your bitcoins to another person (or wallet) over a peer-to-peer network – similar to how BitTorrent works. However, unlike torrents, there aren’t any central servers involved in processing these transactions. Instead, they all happen on an open ledger called the blockchain and every single transaction ever made using bitcoin is recorded on it. That makes bitcoin more like a digital form of cash than anything else.
Ethereum
Although it’s not as well-known or easy to use as its competitors, Ethereum is a blockchain-based platform with features that could appeal to users who want more control over how they manage and use their cryptocurrencies. It’s not meant to be used in place of other blockchains—but instead to help users interact with those blockchains more effectively. Ethereum will be bigger than Bitcoin someday, is a common thing people say about Ethereum, but others are bearish on whether it can ever achieve anything close to that kind of market dominance. As noted by CoinDesk, The idea behind Ethereum Classic (ETC) is pretty simple: ‘Keep Ethereum decentralized!
Litecoin
With a network that has average confirmation times of 2.5 minutes, Litecoin is one of the fastest cryptocurrencies available on mobile devices. Unlike some other wallets, it allows you to keep both Bitcoin and Litecoin stored in a single wallet (and other altcoins if you wish). It also offers support for offline transactions so you can send funds without an internet connection. This makes it a great choice for beginners who want to try out cryptocurrency without risking their money with an online exchange. It’s also open source and well-maintained by its development team, which means bugs are less likely to occur. If you’re looking for a simple way to store your cryptocurrency safely, give Litecoin Wallet a try!
Binance
Launched in 2017, Binance is one of world’s largest and fastest-growing cryptocurrency exchanges. The exchange offers a wide variety of coins to trade (over 100) but lacks fiat support. However, it does provide fast deposits and withdrawals through both bank transfer and credit cards. If you’re into altcoins, Binance is a great place to pick up some lesser-known ones as they regularly list new coins on their trading platform. Best of all, Binance has its own coin (BNB) that comes with a 50% discount when paying fees on top of their low price! Binance also offers discounts to select groups of people so make sure you check out what qualifies you for reduced fees before signing up!
Coinomi
Offers a secure and easy way to store multiple cryptocurrencies. The app is available on desktop, Android, and iOS devices. If you’re looking to get started with cryptocurrency investing but don’t want to deal with complicated hardware or software, Coinomi is a good option for you. With it, you can easily send and receive various types of cryptocurrency and pay in stores using QR codes. Keep in mind that Coinomi is still an early stage product; make sure your funds are backed up so they don’t get lost or stolen if there’s ever an issue with your wallet.
Shapeshift
This digital currency exchange supports dozens of cryptocurrencies and has a robust trading engine. Shapeshift is easy to use but offers a ton of power and flexibility, including ShapeShift’s own token, Prism (an Ethereum ERC20 token that provides discounts on exchanges). As far as exchanges go, Shapeshift is one of the easier ones to navigate. If you’re using another cryptocurrency or an old-school fiat currency like U.S. dollars, you don’t need any additional software—just send your crypto or cash in as an input and receive coins in whatever output you want.
Jaxx
A multi-cryptocurrency wallet application that allows you to control your private keys. Mobile (iOS, Android), desktop, and browser version available. Jaxx is one of my favorite wallets and I personally use it. If you’re just getting started with cryptocurrency, Jaxx is a great place to start. After downloading, it will be synced with either your browser or your mobile device. Set up two-factor authentication on all of your devices and never worry about losing your private keys again!
Exodus
A free, universal wallet, which also supports a wide range of cryptocurrency assets. The app also acts as a fully-featured cryptocurrency portfolio that automatically syncs with popular exchanges. Perfect for newcomers looking to get started in crypto or those who prefer a do-it-yourself (DIY) approach. You can even use it to invest in ICOs by manually inputting an ICO's deposit address into Exodus. Overall, Exodus has been called one of the most beautiful cryptocurrency wallets and is perfect for anyone interested in exploring and using cryptocurrencies but wants a high level of security and ease of use. In other words: easy to use without sacrificing control over your funds or complete anonymity while you're trading/buying coins on public exchanges.
Metamask
This is one of the most popular cryptocurrency apps used by beginners. It’s a secure wallet and trading platform that lets you buy, sell, send, and receive your favorite cryptocurrencies with ease. Some of its features include: Trade on Coinbase’s Global Digital Asset Exchange with as little as $1 Buy and Sell Digital Currency using other Crypto or Fiat at a built-in trading price (with fees starting at 1.49%) Pay Anyone in Crypto in under a minute Send digital currency to any email address ------------- CEX : This is another popular app among beginners in crypto; it works like a traditional online exchange platform but offers trades in cryptocurrencies rather than stocks and options.
Coinbase
With an estimated 20 million users, Coinbase is one of the most widely used cryptocurrency apps. It’s popular for many reasons, but especially because of its ease-of-use and free purchasing power. For a beginner, that means access to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and more. Coinbase also makes it easy to buy gift cards and gives you a small amount of currency whenever you pay with your bank account or credit card. That said, Coinbase is only available in 32 countries—though it has plans to expand soon—and charges small fees (1%–3%) on all transactions. If you’re looking to trade and spend without paying any fees whatsoever though, then check out Changelly instead.
