So you want to mine Bitcoin?

We have been mining cryptocurrencies for awhile (mostly for fun so far) and decided to give one of the USB Miners a shot. After a little research we decided on the GekkoScience 2Pac BTC ASIC Miner.

We purchased one on Ebay and it arrived in the mail yesterday. After opening the package and reading the instructions, it appeared to be a simple plug and play installation like most USB devices. Boy, were we wrong! The instructions were useless and included links to pages that no longer existed. Thank goodness, we had some experience with installing USB devices and with mining bitcoin.

The first issue we encountered was finding the correct cgminer for the GekkoScience 2Pac USB. Next, the version we found was missing two .dll files. We found the missing files at DDL-Files.com and installed them ease.

Now the miner was working but did not recognize the USB device due to the fact WINDOWS 10 installed the wrong drivers. We found a great Windows application called Zadig that helped install the correct drivers.

We restarted our cgminer and were up and mining using our new USB miner! All that is left to do is to tweak it to get the maximum results and profits.
