Using Bitcoin without the internet?

Remember someone telling you that bitcoin adoption depended on the internet? And that since everyone does not have internet bitcoin adoption won't happen? No,Darn it. If yes, Well it not the case anymore!!! Ok, it not completely using Bitcoin without internet but it really cool. :)

No-I am not talking about sending bitcoin transactions by SMS nor am I talking about sending bitcoin by faxing. FYI that tool also has other option including SMS but that beside the point. What I am talking about a type of mesh network.

TxTenna combines the mesh network with bitcoin transactions, allowing for users to transact offline.

Samourai Wallet is a very probitcoin wallet that also has the most privacy tech bitcoin added to it.

How TxTenna works is by a device know as goTenna needs to be synced up to mobile phone and then toggle the wallet app's settings to transact offline and send the bitcoin. The device costs $179

Let talk about the tech now

Mesh networks are a concept where users connect directly with each other. Much like the Bitcoin peer to peer network. TxTenna uses the mesh network.

So what the problem with the current transaction system?
Most transactions today require a connection from either an ISP or cellular tower, a centralized failure point in an otherwise decentralized system.

xTenna will enable transactions to be sent and received with virtually 100 percent uptime. Once a transaction is signed in the mobile wallet, the offline transaction is passed to the TxTenna app and broadcast to nearby goTenna mesh device. The transaction is relayed by goTenna devices in the area until an internet-connected node receives it and forwards to the Bitcoin network.

If the offline bitcoin user is within a mile of another active device, the transaction could bounce across the mesh until it reaches a user with an internet connection.

Along with the fact another backup will be made connecting goTenna devices to Blockstream Satellites the problems of using internet with bitcoin would be solved.

How do the Blockstream Satellites work?

Blockstream Satellite is a service that broadcasts real-time Bitcoin blockchain data from satellites in space to almost everyone on the planet-delivering availability across two thirds of the Earth’s landmass, with plans for near global coverage by year end.

With Blockstream Satellite, just one person in a community needs to have access to the blockchain data through Blockstream Satellite, allowing for the distribution of that data to other people locally. Although Blockstream Satellite users today will still need some internet access (cellular, satellite internet, etc.) for bitcoin transactions themselves (the median bitcoin transaction size is only about 250 bytes). Blockstream Satellite handles broadcasting on the Bitcoin blockchain which is projected to grow by 8 gigabytes per month.
