I don't know about the future of Bitcoin. I believe Bitcoin was fantastic in terms of it making a scaffold for the future of currency, however, I do not believe that it is a good currency and heres why.
Bitcoin is extremely volatile, therefore it will never be a good medium for being used as an actual currency. You will never walk into a shop, and buy something using Bitcoin. Because is to volatile for people to spend it. People are seeing it as an investment, something that will increase in price and therefore make money for the investors, rather than a currency.
Don't get me wrong, I think Bitcoin is/was great, however, it was great at being an idea/scaffold, but it wasn't great at being currency.

The idea behind it is great and still has a huge potential, but instead of building useful business solutions for it, there is this gamification where people prefer to gamble for a marginal profit. So, yeah, crypto will die and it will be us who killed it.
Crypto won't die, it is only just beginning! There are plenty of other crypto's which are much more stable than Bitcoin. There are even ones coming out that will be backed by gold!
Bitcoin will eventually fade away, and will be itself that killed itself. However, it has planted a seed of possibilities, and that in itself is a great accomplishment!
