Sacramento Kings Announce a Get Paid in Bitcoin Option for Players and Staff

in #bitcoin3 years ago

The Sacramento Kings Owner Vivek Ranadive announced yesterday in a room on the Social Media App Clubhouse, that the team would continue being a pioneer in the crypto space by offering a get paid in Bitcoin option to both players and back office staff.

You know it's funny to me how Mark Cuban is getting all this attention and the crypto community is really worshipping him, when in reality he's just a bandwagoneer. Up until recently Mark Cuban has been against Bitcoin and crypto even saying he'd rather have a bushel of bananas rather than Bitcoin because at least you can do something with Bananas. It's funny to me the crypto community has really embraced him when he's clearly a bandwagoneer just doing this for free PR when you have real people in the space who've been pushing adoption for years.

The Sacramento Kings are probably the most crypto forward sports organizations around, they partnered with BitPay back in 2014 to begin accepting Bitcoin for everything from hot dogs to jerseys and other merch. They've now announced players and back office staff will have the option of being paid partly or entirely in crypto, that's pretty cool in my book.

Personally I'd love to see the crypto community celebrate people who've been supporting crypto for years like the Kings, Overstock.Com and other companies as opposed to these cultlike figures like Mark Cuban and Elon Musk who are just coming along for the PR ride.

Either way, this is pretty cool and I think we'll see other major sports organizations following suit.
