    I hope not :P With the R3 announcement yesterday a lot of Ripple soldiers became active again. I hope SWIFT won't use Ripple and XRP. But technically thats not a competition to Bitcoin.

    Ripple makes banks better and bitcoin makes banks obsolete!

    I guess banks will never become obsolete.

    Depending on the definition, the world's oldest bank is either Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena or Berenberg Bank. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena was founded in its present form in 1624, but traces its history to a mount of piety founded in 1472.

    Until now banks still exist and would become more modernized.
