Cheap electricity Canada has attracted large-scale miners

The largest province of Canada, Quebec, has attracted the attention of miners from around the world. Especially Chinese miners. Due to the fact that the region holds about 40% of the country's water resources, which are large hydropower plants, there is very cheap electricity. Add to this the harsh and long winter, through which you can save money on cooling equipment – all this attracts large mining companies from China who are forced to look for new space to accommodate the equipment.

Manages all the water resources of the state enterprise Hydro-Quebec located in Montreal, which is the fourth largest producer of hydropower in the world.

The main potential clients of Hydro-Quebec today are the Chinese miners of bitcoin. Because of fears that the Chinese government may expand its cryptocurrency sanctions on the industry of mining, more and more companies are forced to look for new places to place their huge data centers.

По словам вице-президента гидро-Квебек "Филион" Эрик (Эрик Филион), около 10 компаний связался с ним по вопросу размещения оборудования:   

"Это очень крупные игроки... Белл-центр в Монреале потребляет 5 МВт электроэнергии. Компании, которые обратились к нам, потребляют от 5 МВт до нескольких сотен МВт".
