"For every 100 million dollars that hedgefund x puts into bitcoin futures, no extra money goes into bitcoin itself," says Noelle Acheson.

The futures don't require you to actual own bitcoins. You don't have to hold the contracts even until they mature. Everything can be settled in cash.

The money of institutional investoirs "will not be puring into the bitcoin market. It will be buying synthetic derivatives that don't directly impact bitcoin at all."
